Q: Diabetes Cure?
Do you think that diabetes will ever be cured? And if so, how and when? A friend of mine has had diabetes all his life and I feel sorry for him, so I decided to ask this question to see what people think.

A: Yes, I think that they are getting closer all the time. The Edmonton Protocol is looking promising. It involves Islet cell transplants.
Millions of dollars are being spent on research, all over the world.
We all just gotta keep contributing to the research funds, and keep hoping.

Q: Diabetes cure?
I think I have diabetes. Last year I started a job where I am on my feet most of the day and parts of my feet went numb. at first I thought it was my shoes but it doesn’t go away even on the weekends. I think it is diabetes.
Is there any thing I can do to stop this, like a chnge of diet? I’m going to the doctor soon but I’d like to know what you people think.

A: diet and exercise are very important. but sometimes you need medication, either soclled AHA (oral) or insulin shots

Q: Where can I find arguments against an approaching Type 1 diabetes cure?
I’m researching the possibility of cure for Type 1 diabetes, and my argument is that there will be a cure in the near future, if funding improves and if beta cell and immune research continues. This is for my AP research paper, and no, I’m not making others write it. Suprisingly, I can’t find a sufficient article arguing that a diabetes cure WON’T come soon, so i’m simply asking, does anyone know where I can find one? Any tips or sites are helpful, thank you!

A: …as much as I dislike the fact that you are asking yahoo-answers for an AP Essay….I’ll help you, my approach would be through stem-cell, maybe grow a healthy pancreas and have a transplant it in, and irradiate your immune system and transplant bone marrow

Q: What can you tell me about a natural diabetes “cure”…?
mentioned by Kevin Trudeau in his updated edition of his “Natural Cures” book. He references an interview with a Dr. Yung Su Kim and a “combination of herbs researched at the University of Calgary, called by the Asian Diabetic Association” the final cure for diabetes.

I’ve googled this as best I could but come up with a variety of different things. Has anyone found this product or even used it that can tell me more?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

A: Global trotter is half right. Allow me to amplify on his/her answer.
Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2) is not curable but it is REVERSIBLE.
The first step, if you are overweight, is weight loss. This in itself may be enough to reverse your BG numbers.
Tofu and other soy products are harmful and should be avoided; the only safe soy is that which has been FERMENTED: tempeh, miso and natto.
Quality protein is necessary for good health. Fish is terrific but high in mercury; choose small fish, low on the food chain, like sardines and herring, or choose a quality fish oil like Garden of Life or Carlson’s. Go for organic meats and poultry if at all possible (you may be able to find an affordable local source) since commercial meats are pumped full of undesirable hormones and antibiotics.
Choose veggies that are not starchy and not calorie-dense. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, spinach, chard, mushrooms – you get the idea. Stay away from potatoes, yams, etc.
Avoid grains, yes, even whole grains. No refined flours, white rice, pasta. I’ve found oatmeal (5-minute, not instant) to be the only grain that does not spike my blood glucose. No sweeteners, or course. In fact, it should be obvious that sugar in any form is off the menu if you are serious about reversing DMT2. The only non-calorie sweetener that is perfectly safe is stevia.

Whole eggs are one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Include healthy fats as well to help you feel full: butter, lard, raw cream, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil. Avoid Omega-6 fats like margarine and vegetable oils; not only are they GMO, they upset our Omega-3 vs. Omega-6 balance that is instrumental in heart disease.

Global trotter is right about exercise too. A half-hour of walking a day would be ideal, but any activity is helpful, even 10-minute bursts of this and that. The more activity, the faster those numbers come down.

There are a whole series of supplements and herbs that are supposed to help lower BG or improve insulin receptivity. I’ve tried them all – cinnamon, bitter melon, GTF chromium, ALA, Gymnema Sylvestre etc. – none of them helped me at all. Diet and exercise are what’s working for me. Good luck and stay focused!

Q: diabetes cure?

A: ravidath g !

Q: How come you can not cure diabetes?
I know there are treatments for diabetes but I do not know the reason on why you can not cure diabetes, any type of diabetes. Please Help! Thank You.

A: It all boils down to the fact that it is just too complicated to cure.
Many people have had pancreas transplants but the transplant is difficult due to the fact that the pancreas is very delicate and not everyone is an organ donor. Right now they only do these transplants when someone is dying from diabetic complications. My uncle had a pancreas/kidney transplant and lived for 15 years until he had a heart attack.

Doctors all over the US and Canada have been working on islet cell transplantation. I know that in Philadelphia they had cured several people this past summer. The islet cell transplantation is only in the clinical trial stages right now. The medical community has recently found a better way to transplant these cells and they have had better results but it will be years before this is available to all diabetics. I was in the clinical trial in Philly and only know all of this info because I asked. I unfortunately had other health problems and had to drop out.

The medical community has been working for years on an artificial pancreas or implantable insulin pump. There have been way too many problems with these however.

There seems to be new discoveries and hope on the horizon everyday. I’ve been reading for years that a cure is just around the corner. Hopefully one day soon someone will find the thing that finally works perfectly.

Q: How does gene therapy work to cure diabetes?
Can someone please talk me through step by step the process of gene therapy! and how potentially in the future it could be used to cure diabetes. Thanks! And if you have any sources post the link to please

A: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/science/21c/genetics/geneticdiseasesrev2.shtml

Have a look at the website above – it helped me to understand Gene Therapy better. The website is really good in explaining the simple steps. Hope you find this useful.

Q: Can you tell me the story that how to cure diabetes?
I am interested to know how cure diabetes by the treatment of homeopathy. There are lot of remedy in homeopathy to copeup with diabetes symptom. So far I am concerned specifically there no remedy for diabetes.

A: There is no cure at the time for either Type I or Type II Diabetes. Diabetes can only be controlled. It sure would be great if you could come up with something that will work! You’d be very wealthy! Good luck!

Q: I have read that there is a intestine surgery method to cure diabetes?
I read that now diabetes can be CURED by a surgery, replacing small intestine parts, which are know as producing some insulin, to stomach where they can secrete insulin..is that true?

A: the only surgery even contemplated now to cure diabetes is a pancreatic transplant – is it really worth going down that direction?

keep in mind that a) whilst you will not require insulin
b) any transplant involves subduing your immune system which means you have to be extremely careful for any type of illness / infection and also there is no guarantee that whatever caused your diabetes in the first place that it will not happen again.

i am diabetic but would not consider that an option, they are constantly coming up with new ideas though, so best wait and see a few more years down the line – something like using your own cell tissue to fix your pancreas sounds more realistic, even if it is still a long way off

Q: How do you cure diabetes?
What is the cure for diabetes?

A: There is no cure. It changes your entire lifestyle.

Here is a great site to learn more!

http://www.diabetes.org/about-diabetes.jsp

Q: What is the natural cure for Diabetes and Multiple sclerosis?
You always hear about natural cures for diseases, but you never hear of what they are or even the treatments. I’ve heard there is a natural cure for Herpes, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and hypertension, but no one ever seems to know what they are, or where they can be found. I have even read that book ‘Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want You to Know About’ by Kevin Trudeau and he just beats around the bush. Is there anyone out there with solid evidence and answers?

A: I am sure that if there was solid evidence backed by real proof of natural cures for diseases that _many_ healthcare professionals would be talking about them, they would be in respected journals, even the so-called ‘evil’ pharmaceutical companies would be manufacturing ‘enhanced’, ’safer’, ‘more effective’ natural cures. Just look at all the various companies that make different kinds of Vitamin C, Rosehips, Iron pills, and the like for your local grocery store.

IMHO, I think you’re best bet is to work with a professional doctor.

===============
Be cautious when referencing Kevin Trudeau’s “Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About.” Do a little reading on this guy, then decide for yourself. Personally, I think he’s a huckster out to make a buck using ridiculous claims backed by pseudo-science and possibly outright untruths .. but that’s just my opinion .. and some other people like doctors, respected journalists, etc.

Q: What makes Dr. Faustman think that treating people with Diabetes with BCG will cure it?
I understand she successfully cured Diabetes in mice but this treatment has already been studied in prior research and has been given as part of standard vaccinations to people in Europe. If anyone with a good background in science can explain why her method would be more advanced, that would be most appreciated.

A: To respond to the second posting:
Dr. Faustman used the well-known immune stimulant called CFA (complete Freuds Adjuvant) initially in her mice research. As you state, one can not use CFA in humans as it is not safe. However, you did not mention that she searched for an equivalent substance known to have the same stimulatory effect that she could use in humans. She found the generic, safe and readily available substance called BCG. She has publicly stated that she also used BCG in mice with the same original effects as CFA. The human trials are currently using BCG. Faustman has shown, along with other scientists from other labs, that these immune stimulants stimulate the production of TNF alpha in the body. It is also shown that in the presence of elevated TNF alpha levels, the targeted autoreactive T cells responsible for continually killing the islet cells die off.
Dr. Faustman’s later experiments revealed that the role of islet regeneration may come from precursor cells in the spleen, or splenocytes. This belief has no part in whether her treatment will work in humans or not as she never planned to use these cells in her protocol. Dr. Faustman is attempting to eliminate the underlying autoimmune disease by first “selectively” killing off the autoreactive T cells while sparing healthy cells. Once the autoimmune cells are truly eliminated, it is believed and heavily supported by other research that regeneration of islet cells can occur even in those who have lived with diabetes for many years. Research has found that regeneration of islet cells may occur from existing islet cells in the pancreas, or from stem cells found in the pancreas, or what Faustman’s research has shown from one’s spleen. By the way, Dr. Faustman’s research showing regeneration of islet cells from splenocytes was replicated by an NIH group showing 100% replication results. In any case, Faustman and others believe that the ability of regeneration of islets can occur probably from different sources. However, it’s the elimination of the underlying autoimmune disease that may very well be the key for this to happen as a cure. The goal of Dr. Faustman’s project is to remove the disease with a safe substance so that the body can then have time to regenerate new islet cells.
It is also important to point out that since Dr. Faustman’s discovery many human clinical trials in the field of blocking the autoimmune disease and regeneration have started. Most, if not all of these are recruiting only newly diagnosed patients. Most of these trials continue to use different immune suppressant drugs, some with a history of severe side effects when used for life threatening diseases like lymphomas. Not one of these human trials is attempting the selective removal of disease.
Dr. Faustman’s phase I human clinical trial using BCG started in January of 2008 and is estimated to be completed this summer. Phase II of the human clinical trial is expected to start at the end of the year depending solely on funding.

To answer the first posting:
You are right when you say that other scientists in the past have used BCG in mice and even in human clinical trials. However, these human clinical trials only used “one vaccinated dose” of BCG while they looked for an end result of reversal of diabetes. They also did not know the mechanism of why BCG had an effect in mice but, proceeded to human clinical trials anyway.
It is known from Dr. Faustman’s studies and others that BCG, as an immune stimulant, stimuates the natural production of TNF alpha in the body. In the presence of elevated TNF alpha levels, the targeted autoreactive T-cells (responsible for killing the islet cells) die. Dr. Faustman’s studies show that it will take “a lot more than one vaccinated dose” of BCG to show any sort of end result of reversing diabetes ( ie: decreased insulin doses or off of insulin totally).
It is very important to mention that Faustman’s human clinical trial has the means of reliably measuring the killing off of these autoreactive T-cells with TNF alpha. Therefore, determining increased dosing of BCG has the best chance of being successful in phase II of her human clinical trail. Past BCG trials did not have this means.
A good analogy is the use of antibiotics to treat an infection. Imagine if science only tried one dose of an antiobiotic to test its ability to clear an infection? We all know that it takes a lot more than 1 dose to see the end result of clearing that infection.

Q: Ethical issues for gene therapy to cure diabetes?
Is there any ethical issues in gene therapy to cure diabetes. This is where they take insulin genes from a donor and inject them into a diabetic so they can produce their own insulin.

A: None that I can see as long as the donor is willing.

Q: When will scientists find a cure for diabetes?
I have a sister that has diabetes, im really hoping that scientists will find a cure very soon.

A: I’ve been a diabetic for 15 years. Trying to determine when scientists will find a cure for diabetes is akin to determining when God will return to rapture the church…it may happen tomorrow, next week, next month, next year…50 years from now!? Only God and time will tell.

The Bible says that in the end of times, doctors will find cures for many diseases. We see more and more cures everyday, so I feel that his return will be sooner than we think…when God comes back, those who’ve made the decision to follow him, won’t worry about a cure…we’ll be cured as we meet Jesus in the air! Either way, whether cured by science or God, we’ll be cured one day!

Don’t worry, Darlin’, you’ve got many, many people praying with you for God to bless us with a cure. Until then, stay steadfast in your faith and claim the cure and healings from the Lord.

God’s blessings on you and yours…Always!

Q: How can diet be effective in the prevention or cure of diabetes?
How can diet be effective in the prevention or cure of diabetes ?

A: Diet and exercise are equally important in reversing type two diabetes. (note that I did not say “cure”). It is vitally important that the type two diabetic adjust their lifestyle to include lots of healthy raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains and to exclude any and all refined, processed, enriched, packaged, preserved, man made carbohydrates (especially high fructose corn syrup) from their diet. It is equally important for the type two diabetic to get daily moderate exercise. I emphatically disagree with the good doctor. I am living proof that the disease is reversible. It is only progressive if the patient persists in living the lifestyle that brought us here in the first place. Very few doctors seem to realize this. Bear in mind that type two diabetes is a modern disease and it’s existence was practically unheard of 200 years ago, when factory processed foods were rarely found in people’s diets. Look up the Pima Indian’s plight for more on this. There are a few doctors that have done their homework and have found as I have that with healthy diet and regular exercise, a type two diabetic can live a long, healthy, and medication free life. All it requires is a lot of research and some practical application of that knowledge. I was getting worse and worse until I became desperate enough to learn for myself how to deal with the disease. The chances of gleaning this knowledge from a conventionally trained M.D. are slim. But there are a few out there that have learned. Search Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Neal Barnard, and Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Or simply click the diabetes info link in my profile.

Q: Can someone suggest natural cures for diabetes?
I am tired of taking medications for years for my diabetes. As I grow older I want to reduce medication and switchover to natural cures if possible.

A: Diabetes is not reversible. Please don’t discontinue any medication without discussing it with your doctor, and PLEASE don’t take advice from people who know so little about diabetes that they refer you to bastions of quackery like Mercola and Natural News.

You don’t give your age, and you don’t say whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or whether it’s insulin you are taking.

But in another question you talk about your love of junk food and how you don’t understand how it can be bad for you.

Type 2 diabetes can often be controlled by diet alone; mine is. And junk food has no part in a diet for controlling type 2 diabetes. At my 6 monthly check ups, my average glucose level for the previous 3 months is regularly around 5.2; I don’t know where you live or how that translates, but it’s very good control. But I know that however controlled it is, however low I keep my blood glucose levels – I’ll still always be diabetic.

There are no ‘natural cures’ for diabetes. It’s a bugger; I wish I wasn’t diabetic too, but it’s with me for life. It is for you too. I manage to keep on the straight and narrow by asking myself which I want more, chocolate or my feet? Junk food or my eyesight? No contest. If I had to take medication for diabetes my attitude would be the same.

Please don’t run the risk of uncontrolled diabetes and the dire consequences that can have by abandoning your meds and going for any of the dubious (at best) ‘cures’ that may be recommended here.

Q: Has anybody had any positive experiences with diabetes cures or treatments?
My dad has type 2 I think. (It’s the one where you don’t use insulin). The problem is he lives in Africa where the drugs can not be trusted. This is obviously very worrying as I am in the U.K and cannot oversee anything.

Anyway, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it as you can imagine it is driving me to dis-pare. Another option is bringing him here for treatment. Can anyone advise on this or have any ideas for me?

A: I have type 1 myself but,for type 2 as with type 1 his diet is very important. Avoiding starchy things like pasta, bread and potatoes. eating lean meats fruits and vegetables in proper quantities would hopefully do the trick. I have heard talk about cinnamon being helpful to type 2s but I don’t know if that has proven to be effective or not. Best of Luck to you and your dad.

Q: Are there underground cures for diabetes?
I am not looking to bring out the truth or share what I discover.

I am just seeking if I can cure diabetes so I won’t have to suffer through any more treatments. I feel like I wanna die.

If it is being underground I wanna know for Me plz I am sick of No hope.

Are there any cures for type1 diabetes????

A: Um, no, if there was a cure to diabetes, it certainly wouldn’t be underground, it would make whoever discovered it unbelieveably rich.

Q: does canary seed milk helps loose weight and cures diabetes?
i read inthe univision forums that canary seeds are good for diabetes and loose weight, but properly handled.is that true? maybe a doctor can anwer too

A: If canary seed cured diabetes, why do 350,000 people have diabetes in North America?

Q: How can we stop people from promoting scam cures for diabetes?
There is one guy on here that I have flagged dozens of times, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.
Anita, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I know that you know what I’m referring to. I won’t say it here, because thay might draw more attention to it.

Emailing the FDA is good, too.

A: Good question. I know it takes yahoo about a million years to investigate these violators too. Perhaps those of us that are regulars to this category could band together and all thumbs down these scam artists. Then perhaps when people are coming here to seek honest knowledge, they may think twice about believing something with so many thumbs down. I’ll do my part.

Q: What companies are doing research on cures for diabetes?

A: Lots of them.

Start by eating well – very little fast food. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

I know Amylin Pharmaceuticals is doing research.

Q: any natural diabetes cures or ways to help fight off type 2 diabetes???
are there any natural ways to help fight off diabetes using natural herbs and foods, if so please list them, i am paying out $250+ a month on medications that do not seem to be helping, and have been doing so for the last 3 years, i follow a strict diet with little to no sugars and carbs, but all i manage to do is go deeper in debt and get sicker.

A: You should check-out, Kevin Trudeau’s Natural Cures book. I haven’t read this book myself but I have heard many good things about it. I believe he addresses diabetes in length and things you can do to bring it under control.

I wish you the best of luck and good health. I really feel you on this issue because my dad passed away from diabetes.

Q: Do you know that the bark of an Indian tree cures diabetes?

A: I didn’t think there was a cure for diabetes. What is the reference for that?

Q: What do you think? Are diabetes and cancer curable but cures are hidden so doctors can make more money?
Treating an illness stimulates the economy. Curing it does not.

A: I am so sick and tired of hearing all of these goddamned conspiracy theories about the medical industry TRYING to keep people sick so they can milk them for all they are worth.

THAT IS NONSENSE.

No matter how many diseases we “Cure” there will be 100 more developing or mutating that will need to be fought…

A friend of my father just won’t shut up about how it is this massive conspiracy to put corn syrup in EVERYTHING so that it makes everyone sick and the BIG BAD EVIL PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY can sell us drugs to fix us just enough to keep selling us drugs… Drugs that will keep you sick so they can KEEP SELLING DRUGS!

This is retarded…

She also believes that AIDS was created by the government or whatever to kill off blacks and gays…

Vaccinations DO NOT cause Autism… WE HAVE EVIDENCE OF THIS!

The KKK is not bottling a brand of Orange Soda with a chemical that decreases fertility of blacks…

All of this nonsense is taking away money, time, and focus form the people that are truly trying to fight these diseases.

Hell… Just look up the BBC Doc about Thalidomide and how it takes Blood Cancer from an automatic death sentence and turns it in to a manageable condition.

The same people screaming about ‘conspiracies’ are the one screaming about stopping stem cell research and cutting the funds to research…

Q: I am looking for natural cures for diabetes and depression. What is a good source?

A: go ask people personally that already have it

Q: Are there any known alternative cures for Diabetes?
Looking for an alternative or otherwise cure or aid in dramatically reducing the blood sugar level of diabetics.

A: Not a one. There is a widespread back of the mind conviction among many that there exists an entire alternative medical structure (ancient knowledge, traditional approaches, …) which offers cures or treatment ordinary medicine does not. That’s a false belief, by and large. Any natural cures which worked as well as ordinary medicine would be quite prominent indeed and wouldn’t remain alternative for very long.

consider, in the case of diabetes alone, that a plant long known to help with diabetes (goat’s rue) is the source of Glucophage (metformin) and the biguanides generally. Gila monsters (the poisonous lizard from the N American SW desert) is the source of a new diabetes drug nearing approval and release for clinical use. An herb, used in cosmetics because it makes the pupil larger in small doses, is the source of digitalis, still one of the primary drugs in cardiovascular medicine.

The common sorts of diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2) is a condition without a cure. And it’s a real pain literally and figuratively. There is a lot of quackery and snake oil om consequence. so far, diabetes related research has earned 4 Nobel Prizes, and any advance as effective as some of the advertising claims about ‘traditional’ cures or treatments would be high on the eligible list for another.

We now understand diabetes about as well as we understand broken legs. There’s little treatment for a broken leg aside from setting it, splinting it, treating it carefully, and waiting. And for good reason. Likewise there’s good understanding of what’s going on in diabetes (type 1 and type 2) and what would be needed to fix them (mostly). We can’t do that yet, just as we can’t get a broken leg to mend in a couple of days. And that’s the state of the art in diabetes treatment, alternative included.

Someday, there’ll be a cure… Would save a bundle of money and a lot of nuisance. Support diabetes research and encourage those with research money to assign some to diabetes.

Q: Are there any alternative treatments/cures for Diabetes?
In 1995 I suffered from acute pancreatitis. Surgeons removed 90% of my pancreas and this left me Type 2 diabetic. I was doing fine on pills until this past december my Endocrinologist decided to put me on Humulin R(about 15 units before meals) and and later on added Lantus(about 55 units 2x day) Insulins. In addition I’ve eaten healthier but I’ve gained about 20lbs. I really hate this and I want to get off insulin but doctors tell me that i had been using the pills (glyburide/metformin < and other variants of all these before that> and Actos) for too long and its not healthy for my liver. I’d prefer to not be on insulin dependency. I know there are stem cell studies and other research going on. But is there anything else I should be looking into ? Is insulin safe? The ingredients are horrific!
Has anyone had success with other methods???
I live in Arizona I’m a 44 year old male.
Thanks for your help.

A: For type I and type II diabetics…

I’ve found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I’m a type II, but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It’s by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it’s the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don’t have a recent relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be ‘effectively’ cured.

The book explains what’s going on in our system and what to do about it. It’s really easy and inexpensive. It’s basically diet, supplements and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorbtion? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/np/fnrb/fnrb0104.htm#pinch

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything’s under control, I’m able to have nearly normal sex again.

Read more about it here:

http://www.diabetesimprovement.com/

I’ve also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I’ve learned here: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html

Here’s another great health site with all kinds of general health information:

Q: Does anyone know a natural cure for diabetes?
I know there isn’t a real cure and it is controlled by tablets ,I need to know if anyone knows of any other natural relief, please pour your answers.

A: No. There isn’t one.

Keeping healthy in other ways, good sugar control, good blood pressure control, low fat diet, not smoking, BMI within average range (not overweight) will all help to stop or minimise the complications of diabetes

Q: Is natural cure effective in helping diabetes?
We are thinking of intercepting the concept of naturopathy in helping my step dad for his diabetes condition. Is it going to be effective? Anyone had tried before?

A: You don’t say what type your father in law is. If he is type 1 using insulin then messing with the treatment plan his doctor has worked out is dangerous. I’ve actually had people tell me I could stop taking insulin simply by going vegetarian which is rubbish I’d be dead by now if I believed that.

Q: is there a Natural cure for diabetes?
please be answered by a diabetic or was a diabetic but found a Natural cure and no longer has diabetes

A: here is a man who cured his in 4 days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ip-VkRgHkM&feature=PlayList&p=C7516B19F319C466&index=0

also read the books hallelujah diet and read the testamonies on diabetes at their website hacres.com

also read there is a cure for diabetes by gabriel cousens

Also email me if interested for the videos on the incurables program by richard schulze which has reversed diabetes

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and am in the process of trying to work towards some of these thing and lifestyle changes …if it works, I will post my testimony at curezoze.com in the diabetes forum later.

Q: Feline all-natural Diabetes cure??????
I have a 13 year old male cat who has been diagnosed with diabetes in the last 6 months. He was given a pill prescription, but that only elevated his blood sugar. We refuse to give him shots, because we feel that is cruel to stick him with needles every day. I am just curious if there is any food or creatable remedy to prolong his life, or even help cure the diabetes…

A: There are prescription diabetic cat foods. Ask your vet.

But let me ask you a question. If you were diabetic, and needed insulin shots, would you find it cruel to give yourself an insulin shot? Or would you look for possibly untested home remedies that may be dangerous?

Q: alternative natural cure for jaundice and diabetes?
I am new here my husband told me to try asking my question here and I hope I can get some help.

My dad has both jaundise and diabetes. his health seems to be getting worse. Im not sure that his medications are helping him. He takes metforman and adriamycin. He seems to be getting worse.

i just want to know if anyone has heard of any alternitive natural cures and therapies that might work for his conditions. I am open to any ideas. Thankyou

A: Why is he on Adriamycin? Is there some information you are not giving? Adriamycin is a chemotherapy agent.
Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug with a possible side effect of LIVER DAMAGE and jaundice. (see reference given) Sounds like he needs to be on something different…now. Even if he has to take insulin shots for a while , I would think that would be better than those potentially life-threatening side effects. THEN you can pursue natural options once you stop the poisoning. If he gets on something with less damaging side-effects, then he can pursue other options to stop diabetes (depending on cause). Exercise included. Since you don’t mention that he takes insulin shots, that probably means his pancreas is still functional…so, dietary and lifestyle modifications will help a great deal.

eg: If your thumb hurt, you’d want to stop hitting it with a hammer before wrapping it and applying ice.

Q: what is the natural cure for diabetes?

A: Exercise is the best answer

Though Not for all states, like not for insulin dependent

But it helps better glycemic control and reduces dependence

Q: any natural cure for diabetes 2?

A: Food Therapy should be followed under the supervision from your doctor. Check your sugar level frequently so that sugar levels do not go beyond the recommended level

Foods to avoid

It is always advisable to avoid some foods if you are diabetic such as refined sugar, sweets, syrups, glucose, jam, molasses, fruit sugar, ice-cream, cakes, pastries, sweet biscuits, chocolates, soft drinks, condensed milk, cream and fried foods. Fats like butter, ghee and hydrogenated vegetable oil should also be avoided. White sugar and white flour should be reduced drastically. Avoid all processed foods, junk food, pastries, cookies, canned and preserved foods. They contain harmful preservatives and lot of salt. Avoid soft drinks since these have a lot of sugar. Try to avoid fried foods from your diet. Smoking results in the using up of oxygen in the body. It will result in less of oxygen needed by the body to metabolize glucose. So smoking should be avoided.

Foods to be limited

Salt consumption should be reduced to a minimum. You will get enough salt form the vegetables and fruits you eat. Reduce animal foods especially red meats. Reduce poultry and egg. Reduce caffeine and alcohol. Do not drink tea and coffee more than 2 cups a day. Try to replace it with green tea or herbal teas like Parsley tea, Blueberry leaf, Tea made of tender walnut tree leaves, Water in which kidney bean pods have been cooked is good diabetes.

Do not consume alcohol in empty stomach. Alcohol on an empty stomach can cause low blood glucose or hypoglycemia.Foods that should be consumed in moderation are honey and other natural sugars like palm sugar, dates which can be used instead of white sugar. Remember these should be consumed in very little quantity only.Pasta, coconut, other nuts, unsweetened juices, eggs should be limited. You can replace it with whole grain, unpolished rice and Soya products. Try to eat whole grain bread instead of white flour. Fats like olive oil and peanut oil are more advisable that hydrogenated fats. Low fat food like skimmed milk and low fat home made cottage cheese can be taken in moderation. You can also substitute it with yoghurt. Sea food and fish also can be taken in moderation.

Foods to be taken

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. An alkaline diet with natural food is recommended. Wholegrain, fruits, nuts, vegetables, and dairy products form a good diet for the diabetic. Raw vegetables can be taken in high quantities. It has been found that cooked foods raise blood glucose higher than raw, unpeeled foods. Cooking destroys many of the enzymes and some vitamins and minerals.

Eat at least five fruits every day. Fruits like grape fruit, pomegranate juice, Indian blackberry, banana, granny smith apples, fig, cranberries, black berry, kiwi fruits, and citrus fruits are highly recommended. It can be taken as a snack. Cucumber, Lettuce, onion, garlic string beans cucumber radish, tomato, carrot, leaves; spinach turnip, cabbage and Jerusalem artichoke are good for diabetes. Colorful vegetables are good for the functioning of pancreas. Drink Fruit juices without sugar. Brewer’s yeast and sprouted alfalfa and mung beans are good for the body. Unripe banana also can be cooked and eaten.

The most important of all is eating high fiber diet which lowers need for insulin. It releases energy into the body slowly. It has also been found that diabetes decreases and may even disappear in people eating a high fiber or whole food diet. High fiber diet has more chromium and chromium is very good for people with diabetes. Eat lot of potassium rich foods like raw peanuts, tomato, bananas, melons, dried peas, potatoes, apple cider vinegar, skimmed milk powder, wheat but do not take potassium supplements.

Include soluble fiber in your meals like barley, oatmeal, almond meal, dried beans, kidney beans, cooked black beans, peas, cereals, chickpeas, Bengal gram which has low glycemic index, , Black gram, lentils and corn or garbanzo beans to helps considerably in reducing blood sugar levels. Soy products like tofu, tempeh, soymilk, soya powder, soy bean sprouts, nuggets etc are also very good in containing neurological complications in diabetes. You can make bread out of any of the whole grains. Get a lot of soluble fiber into your diet. When you eat lots of bread, cereal and starchy vegetables you will get enough of starches which is very helpful for diabetes. Insoluble fibers, found in bran (oat bran, wheat bran), whole grain breads, whole grains and nuts, act as intestinal scrubbers by cleaning out the lower gastrointestinal tract. Fiber cleans your intestinal tract by moving out the food so that it wouldn’t stay there and putrefy. Butter milk and yoghurt diet are very beneficial.

Helpful herbs and vegetables

1. Bitter Gourd (Karela): Bitter gourd Momordica-charantia or bitter melon juice contains plant insulin and should be taken 2 ounce 2 times daily on an empty stomach. 12. Use of turmeric and gooseberry in equal quantities in powder form taken with warm water is very useful in this behalf. These activate the pancreatic cells and more insulin is produced.
13. Wild jeerakam cumin seeds black colored 60 gm in 1 liter and boil a reduce it ti 1/4th liter and take half divide it into two equal parts and drink one part in the morning and one in the evening 2 times daily.
14. Grind (Bacopa monnieri )Bhrahmi and add a teaspoon of it to milk and drink.

Vitamins that help

Supplements in natural forms are more conducive to the body. Magnesium supplementation has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity. Vitamin C: 500 mg is recommended. Vitamin E: This vitamin is very valuable for diabetes. A daily dose of 200 i.u. of Vitamin E is recommended for a fortnight at a time. Chromium: Whole grains, seeds, mushrooms, corn oil and brewer’s yeast are relatively good sources of biologically valuable chromium. Vitamin A:. Take A dose of 15,000i.u. on alternate days. Vitamin B: Avoid large dosage of vitamin B because this vitamin interferes with the absorption of insulin by cells.

Q: natural cure for diabetes ?
Any true life experience, comments from medical professionals

A: Assuming that you are talking of type 2 diabetes, there was a small study carried out in the States looking at new onset type 2 diabetics.

About 12 patients were subjected to a punishing regime of diet, weight loss and very aggressive prolonged physical exercise. Under these extreme conditions about half were able to revert to normal glucose tolerance. Unfortunately this did not represent a realistic treatment option, but rather management of scientific interest.

Q: Is there a natural cure for type 1 diabetes?

A: Hi Jeremy P.
Fortunately this type of diabetes can be controlled and managed more comfortably than type 2 diabetes. However, this does not change the fact that this is a serious condition and if you have the disease, you have to be very careful. Diabetes is not a condition that you can neglect; medical attention is required as soon as it is diagnosed. If left untreated, it will lead to more serious health problems. You have to be careful about what you eat and what you do.

As the pancreas stops the production of insulin in type 1 diabetes, the treatment for this disease would include the introduction of insulin to the body. There are about 20 types of products available which could provide the much needed insulin. Which product should be taken depends on the patient and the physician providing the health care.

Q: Is there truly a “natural” cure for diabetes?
Type 1 AND 2

A: You would have to define “cure” first. According to my recent blood test, I’m not diabetic even though I was diagnosed with it over three years ago. I don’t necessarily claim to be cured, but the results are looking pretty good so far…. Here’s what I’m doing:

http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html

Q: Part 2……A natural cure for many cases of diabetes for my Christian brethren and all others…..I guess?
I will spill the beans,…..I put this in questions in the Diabetics section earlier and not 10 minutes later a orchestrated letter tried to discredit every thing i wanted to share.

You guy’s can believe what you want……..i have proof with my hyperglecemic Daughter and 4 of my realitives that have totally got off of insulin,….of coarse they had to continue a good diet but my DAUGHTER WASN’T FAR ADVANCED so she can eat sweets on occasion,…..now i’m not saying you guys can…..it must be monitered so you will know what the dosage is best……Ok here it is……it’s called “”CHROMIUM PICOLINATE” it is all natural suppliment…..Doctors will not prescribe it because it is not FDA approved,…..rule of thumb….basically anything that is natural is not FDA approved……..why you ask because they can make money off something that is so easily accessable to the public…it’s about that $$$ …My daughter takes 500 mg of Chromium Picolinate 30 to 60 minutes before a meal.
Remember you must continue to take the suppliment through out your life,….no biggy i take it and i don’t have diabetes,…..it will even help you from getting diabetes. Be good to your self….you all deserve it!! Peace out
Yes you must do your research,…….there is proper dosages,…….Less might be better,….consult your Doctor or a Nutritionalist………..they can help…….ask questions…….The Doctor might be reluctant to tell you the truth but your nutritionalist should be more then happy.
Your a funny guy Bluto……..you silly rabbit………that was kinda funny though!

A: Chromium acts as a ‘gatekeeper’ which permits insulin through the cell membrane to metabolize sugars. Many diabetics are of the ‘insulin resistant’ type. That is, their pancreas makes plenty of insulin, but the cells are resistant to letting it enter (usually due to an allergic reaction from a life time of eating too many simple carbohydrates, and sugars). For these people (probably at least 50% of Type 2 diabetics Chromium Picolinate can be quite helpful. They probably should also supplement with Vanadium.

By the way, I think you mean ‘mcg’ (micrograms) not ‘mg’ (milligrams)…….

===============

Q: any natural diabetes cures or ways to help fight off type 2 diabetes???
are there any natural ways to help fight off diabetes using natural herbs and foods, if so please list them, i am paying out $250+ a month on medications that do not seem to be helping, and have been doing so for the last 3 years, i follow a strict diet with little to no sugars and carbs, but all i manage to do is go deeper in debt and get sicker.

It is found to be very effective for diabetes. Or It can be cooked as any vegetable and eaten. Or The bitter melon powder can be made by drying. Take bitter gourd powder I teaspoon daily in empty stomach.
2. Taking half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day may help prevent the onset of diabetes. Even soaking a cinnamon sticks in your tea, could also benefit non-diabetics who have blood sugar problem but are unaware of it.
3. 30 gram fenugreek seeds can be soaked in a glass of water at night and after 12 hours take it and grind it into a paste with the soaked water and drink it on a empty stomach. Or 2 teaspoon if powdered seeds can be taken with water or milk. Or You can add fenugreek into anything you cook.
4. Eating upto 3 grapefruits a day has also been helpful.
5. 1 tablespoon of amla (Emblica officinalis) after removing the seeds extract the juice and mix with a cup of bitter gourd juice and take daily for 2months in a empty stomach.
6. Gymnema Sylvestre a traditional ayurvedic herb the leaf of which is to be taken up to 4 grams per day.
7. Indian blackberry seeds or Jamun seed powder (scientific name of Jamun is Eugenia jambolana or Syzygium cumini L and) is very good for diabetes. Take 1/4th teaspoon with 1 teasoon honey for 50 days.
8. Eating freshly crushed raw garlic 3-4 grams a day lowers blood sugar. You can wash it down with a glass of water.
9. Neem seeds daily 2 times a pinch. Taking a gram of neem leaf daily helps in diabetes.
10. Bael (Aegle marmelos) : The leave of the bael tree when chewed are very useful in diabetes. Pulp of this fruit could be dried and taken in doses of 5 to 10 gms a day.
11. A pinch of pure turmeric powders mixed in amla juice (Indian goose berry) and eat daily in empty stomach.

Q: I am looking for natural cures for diabetes and depression. What is a good source?

A: go ask people personally that already have it

Q: Would a forced march cure type 2 diabetes?
Will exercise cure some / most / all cases of type 2 diabetes?

A: No, it will not cure diabetes. However, it may help to *treat* the hyperglycemia associated with diabetes (along with proper diet and medication). It will not cure in the sense of undoing the insulin resistance that causes Type 2 DM.

Q: Why do doctors think that finding a cure for type 2 diabetes is more important then finding a cure for type 1?
i had a doctor come in to my class today and non stop talk about how they were in pursuit of finding a cure for type 2 diabetes. Im of course glad to hear that, but what about type one. Ive had type one for about 10 years now and i havent heard about any new treatments other then stem cells, and the pump. why? type one is way worse then type 2

A: Type 2 affects a greater % of the population and is preventable. By educating people about t2 diabetes it is hoped that the rate of diagnoses and diabetes related complications will eventually go down. Type 1 on the other hand is unpreventable and affects a small amount of the population.

On the plus side, many of the advancements for t1 have occurred because of the rise in t2. Improvements in glucose monitors, insulin etc are more profitable for companies to invest in if there is a large part of the population who needs them.

Q: is it possible to cure diabetes type 2 naturally?
is it possible to cure diabetes type 2 naturally without prescribed medicine and is it possible to reverse it

A: I don’t think you will ever cure it. However you can control it. I’m a bad example but I have controlled it. Good diet and exercise. Lose some weight. Lay off the beer! That was my problem. I did very well for a few years but I got into the wrong habits again. I was diagnosed type II about five years ago. I weighed close to three hundred pounds. My blood sugar was close to three seventy-five. I was put on a strict diet and oral medication. I started walking, working out and lost weight. I kept a good check on my sugar. I did so well on my diet that when I went for my four month check up, My doctor took me off of my medication. However, I fell back into some old bad habits, Not watching what I ate or drank and put myself back into this position again. I’ll be back to where I need to be again. You’ve got to stick to it. The answer is yes. You can control it. You well never get away from it. But if you lead a healthier life style you can stay off the meds. See your Doctor. Don’t miss your quarterly visits. See a nutritionist. Stay active. Lose weight. Good Luck!

Q: what are the prospect on a cure of type 2 diabetes in the near future?
how close are we to finding a cure and how long would you estimate? if so, what types of treatments are there that might be available? does legalization of stems cell research have an effect? sorry for too many questions on a cure, but just curious on its progress. i hope it’s soon, for the sake of someone close to me.

A: What the heck is “Murse Dan” talking about? Insulin uptake and resistance occurs at the tissue level, not in the blood or the pancreas.

If this guy is in the health field, I’m scared.

Anyway, the best hope for curing T2 diabetes is prevention, both at the genetic level and the lifestyle level.

Q: Is islet cell transplant or stem cell transplant cure for type 2 diabetes?
If it is how much does it cost?Plz give as much as detail as you can , I will be most thankful.

A: Right now, neither one.

BOTH are in the experimental stage, but neither method has been PROVEN to cure diabetes in man. A great deal of research is still needed.

AND, in order for the treatment to be made available to patients, it requires approval by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). This often takes YEARS, even when the “fastr track” method is used. The FDA is VERY careful to see that a treatment doe not cure the disease but kill the patient!

in order to provide proof that the method works, the FDA requires data taken from YEARS of Clinical Studies (using human patients) and follow up. This makes sure that the treatmenmt doesn’t have problems. Like, you cure diabetes but the patients dies of cancer in 5 years.

BOTH methods must first be proven to work in humans and THEN given the clinical trials AND THEN go through the approval process.

These “cures’ — IF they work — will not be available to buy for 20-30 YEARS.

Direct answer to your question:
Neither method has been proven to cure diabetes, and they are not avaialble for human use at any cost.

Q: Researchers have fornd a cure for type 2 diabetes. But why is it being kept under wraps?
A cure has been found for type 2 diabetes and its not some man made chemical mediscine. Its as simple as eating raw foods for 30 days! I know this sound like a buncha bull considering the huge medical companys insist that there is no cure for type 2 diabetes. But of course they want you to think that, its a billion dollar company! Just go to rawfor30days.com. The proof is in the pudding. But doesn’t it make you angry that these medil companys dont publicise this information to keep their pockets fat? Think of all the people struggling and suffering with this condition.
excuse the type is meant “found a cure”
This is real people just go to the website it will blow you away!
bmac look at the facts before you judge, how could medical companies make money off of a person eating raw healthy foods for 30 days? you dont need a doctor to do that.

A: I think that we are being too harsh here. Yes, there is no miracle pill or “cure diet” for Type 2. But many medical studies have shown time and time again that in many cases, Type 2 patients can increase their insulin sensitivity and decrease dependence on meds if they make the appropriate lifestyle changes soon after they are diagnosed.

That means, biting the bullet and making the effort. A healthy diet rich in whole grains, fibre, good fats, and lean protein. Low in saturated fat, simple carbs, and overall carbs/calories.

At least 45 min-1 hr of aerobic exercise each day. That can be as simple as a walk after dinner.

Both of these things lead to weight loss the majority of the time. And that leads to a decrease in insulin resistance, the cause of Type 2 diabetes.

BUT studies have found that diet and exercise can help Type 2 diabetes, even if the person doesn’t lose weight!!

Of course, some people have a form of Type 2 that is due to genetics, such as MODY. MODY is a rare form of Type 2 that occurs in young and thin people, and it runs in families. Some need insulin, some don’t.

80% of Type 2’s are overweight, and studies have proven that the majority if Type 2 cases can be prevented or diet and exercise treated if people make the effort. This has been proven, whether people like to hear it or not. I have heard of many Type 2 patients who were threatened with insulin by their doctors, who went on to finally make the changes and lose the weight. They were able to improve their outcome.

Of course early Type 2 can go into “remission”, but it cannot be cured. If the person stops their diet and exericse program, their BG will start to rise again. It is healthy living for life.

If people are simply handed a precription from their doc, and not given information to help themselves through lifestyle changes, this is wrong. Maybe doctors feel their pateints won’t listen.

Another issue is that people have been walking around for YEARS undiagnosed, and it is too late. That is why we need to prevent Type 2 in the first place.

Q: Can I cure Type 2 Diabetes?
I just saw my doctor and she told me that I have pre-diabetes because my fasting blood sugar is a little higher than it should be. She told me if I don’t do something I will have diabetes. The problem is she didn’t really say what “something” is, except she gave me a prescription for metformin. I don’t really want to take drugs. What should I do?

A: Thanks to Marianna for pointing to my website.

Diet and exercise are crucial to reversing pre-diabetes. Cutting back on refined and processed foods… sugar and things that turn to sugar quickly, these are very important steps because when sugar hits your blood it triggers an insulin release. Almost all “pre-diabetics” have been insulin resistant for years because your cells are being slammed with insulin every time you eat. Eventually your cells resist the insulin and your blood sugar levels go ever higher.

Exercise is also an important part of the equation.

Q: If stem cell research proves positive, will it help cure type one diabetes?
Generally, when people talk about diabetes and diabetics in general, they are referring to type 2 diabetics, seeing as only 10% of the diabetic population has type one.

They say that stems cells may be able to cure diabetes.

Are they talking about just type two, or type one, also?

A: The theory is that it will cure both along with a lot of other genetic diseases.

I am a 42 year type I diabetic.

You can find out more on my site below:

Q: how can stem cells help cure diabetes type 2?
and what is your opinion on finding a cure in the near future?

A: The direct implantation of stem cells into the pancreas of type 2 diabetic individuals has been found to enhance the production of endogenous insulin. In addition, it has been associated with an increase in the C Peptide levels, and a subsequent decrease in blood sugar levels.

If approved, this autologus stem cell transplantation could save a majority of the diabetics from receiving insulin or drugs to stimulate the production of insulin. It is hypothesized that the transplanted stem cells regenerate the damaged Beta cells in

individuals, leading to production of insulin.

The novel approach has been conducted on nearly 16 patients, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The main advantage of the procedure is that it is a relatively safe and effective method, devoid of complications. The results of the study can be found in the Journal of the American Society of Cell Biology.

The patient’s skin is cleaned with disinfectant solution and a small incision is made in the skin (over the inguinal region) following administration of local anesthesia. A very minute puncture is then made in the femoral artery. The extracted stem cells are then introduced directly into the pancreas through a synthetic tube (catheter).

With our improved understanding of stem cell biology and active research in stem cell transplantation, it would not be long before this new treatment can be instituted for cure of type to diabetes that affects more than 92% of patients, worldwide.

i hope this helps if you want to find out more details and everything go to google and type in diabetes type 2 stem cell research
and you will comne up with so many sites!

Q: Does losing weight cure type 2 diabetes?

A: Blow !
Yes it does. Being overweight or obese (especially when the fat is in the abdomen) increases the body’s insulin needs, and losing this extra weight can significantly improve diabetes control. Often the weight loss can eliminate the need for medications altogether. You do not have to lose a huge amount of weight—a 5 percent loss in body weight is sufficient

Q: does diabetes type 2 have a cure?
ok so i wanna know if it diabetes type 2 have a cure if it does whats the name?
oh i also want to know if theres a cure for diabetes type 1 & if there is then what the cure?
thanks

A: There’s no cure for type 1.

For type 2, significant weight loss (for example, after gastric bypass), can enable DM2 patients to get rid of their meds.

Q: Can a person be fully cured of type 2 diabetes?
If a person follows the doctor’s orders, can he be fully cured of type 2 diabetes. In other words, will his pancreas eventually start functioning like it used to? By the way, what makes the pancreas stop functioning?

Also, are there any meds for diabetes that don’t involve needles?

A: Many newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics consider them selfs cured. If you mean can they ever eat sugar like when they were a kid, then no. If you mean living the rest of their lives without drugs or complications, then yes. The pancreas becomes inflamed due to over producing insulin in an attempt to keep up with your ever increasing insulin resistance. Every carbohydrate you consume starting even before birth, moves you toward insulin resistance. Once the resistance becomes so great that the pancreas can not keep up, you are considered diabetic. If you avoid carbohydrates you accomplish two things. First, you give your pancreas a rest, and second, you give your resistant cells a rest. When you give the cells a break from insulin, they actually become sensitive again. After many years of extra insulin, either from drug induced insulin production, or actual insulin injections, your pancreas becomes permanently burned out. By definition, you are now insulin dependent or a type 1 diabetic. Keep in mind that the problem is not too much glucose, but too much insulin. Everyone should have their fasting insulin levels tested. This will detect insulin resistance, years before your blood levels of glucose begin to go up.

Q: Is there a cure for type 2 diabetes?

A: No a cure is not available. Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder and there are no know cures for Autoimmune disorders as of yet.

Q: what is the progress for a cure or treatment for type 2 diabetes?
how close are we to an all-out cure?

A: A ketogenic diet will help to control NIDDM if you stick to it. It could “cure” almost all type 2 cases. Type 1 is a different story.

Q: cure newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes?
Hi
can exercise and weight loss ,cure newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes?
my fasting sugar is 122 without medication, and is 160 ….2 hours after meal.
i am 30 pounds over the normal range…229 Ib, 6.1 feet,
44 years….
dont want to use medications.

help please

A: Yes, yes, yes. It can be controled but not cured. If you start a low Glycemic Diet and exercise you may stave off meds for many years.
http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm
This table includes the glycemic index and glycemic load of more than 2,480 individual food items. Not all of them, however, are available in the United States. They represent a true international effort of testing around the world.

The glycemic index (GI) is a numerical system of measuring how much of a rise in circulating blood sugar a carbohydrate triggers–the higher the number, the greater the blood sugar response. So a low GI food will cause a small rise, while a high GI food will trigger a dramatic spike. A list of carbohydrates with their glycemic values is shown below. A GI is 70 or more is high, a GI of 56 to 69 inclusive is medium, and a GI of 55 or less is low.

The glycemic load (GL) is a relatively new way to assess the impact of carbohydrate consumption that takes the glycemic index into account, but gives a fuller picture than does glycemic index alone. A GI value tells you only how rapidly a particular carbohydrate turns into sugar. It doesn’t tell you how much of that carbohydrate is in a serving of a particular food. You need to know both things to understand a food’s effect on blood sugar. That is where glycemic load comes in. The carbohydrate in watermelon, for example, has a high GI. But there isn’t a lot of it, so watermelon’s glycemic load is relatively low. A GL of 20 or more is high, a GL of 11 to 19 inclusive is medium, and a GL of 10 or less is low.

Foods that have a low GL almost always have a low GI. Foods with an intermediate or high GL range from very low to very high GI.

Both GI and GL are listed here. The GI is of foods based on the glucose index–where glucose is set to equal 100. The other is the glycemic load, which is the glycemic index divided by 100 multiplied by its available carbohydrate content (i.e. carbohydrates minus fiber) in grams. (The “Serve size (g)” column is the serving size in grams for calculating the glycemic load; for simplicity of presentation I have left out an intermediate column that shows the available carbohydrates in the stated serving sizes.) Take, watermelon as an example of calculating glycemic load. Its glycemic index is pretty high, about 72. According to the calculations by the people at the University of Sydney’s Human Nutrition Unit, in a serving of 120 grams it has 6 grams of available carbohydrate per serving, so its glycemic load is pretty low, 72/100*6=4.32, rounded to 4.

For exercise , Nordic walking will do the trick . I do it everyday . Description
Nordic walking can be done year round in any climate and anywhere a person of any age or ability might otherwise walk without poles. It combines simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing. The result is a full-body walking workout that can burn significantly more calories without a change in perceived exertion or having to walk faster, due to the incorporation of many large core, and other upper-body muscles which comprise more than 90% of the body’s total muscle mass and do work against resistance with each stride. ‘Normal walking’ utilizes less than 70% of muscle mass with full impact on the joints of the legs and feet.

Nordic Ski Walking produces up to a 46% increase in energy consumption compared to walking without poles.[1]

Benefits
Compared to regular walking, Nordic walking involves applying force to the poles with each stride. Nordic walkers use more of their entire body (with greater intensity) and receive fitness building stimulation not as present in normal walking for the chest, lats, triceps, biceps, shoulder, abdominals, spinal and other core muscles. This extra muscle involvement leads to enhancements over ordinary walking at equal paces such as:

increased overall strength and endurance in the core muscles and the entire upper body
significant increases in heart rate at a given pace
greater ease in climbing hills
burning more calories than in plain walking
improved balance and stability with use of the poles
significant un-weighting of hip, knee and ankle joints
effective weight bearing exercise – creates positive total body bone density-preserving stress
I use plain old wooden sticks, works well>
Kewl!
Do this and you will be amazed at the results. I have no more room to go on But GOOD LUCK

Q: Do you beleive in Pranayama(Yoga) for the diabetes cure?
I read in web site about the same and I practice regulary, it seems it is effective.

A: I do. Pranayama is helpful in many or all conditions.Pranayama is different from yoga as it is known in the west.

Q: diabetes cure at the Asian diabetic association?
where do I find information on it on it and the herbs that are supposed to be used? and don’t say it doesn’t exist because that is just being shortsighted. do I need to join the Kevin tredaeu website or email someone or what?
I say dont say there isn’t one. and then tink says just that. Tredaeu is a brilliant guy for bringing us this info and I believe him. worst comes the worst I’ll get a subscription to his site.

A: That swine Trudeau will tell you about gymnema sylvestre – which does balance out sugar, but in 98% of people who have been formally diagnosed with diabetes, it just wont cut the mustard

If you want to look up that herb, please do. I suggest everyone educate themselves to options – but whatever it is you do read, read with a healthy dose of skepticism, please. There are plenty of people on the internet who would sell you thier own mother for only $9.95

Google pubmed – then plug gymnema into the search engine (I would do it here, but its an internal serach engine, and any link I put here wont actually take you there) – - that will give you the results of peer reviewed studies on the matter – - and there are some…so its worth looking.

Dietary changes and excercise – thats your best bet – and I’m sure your doctor has suggested it. Please take it into consideration.

Good Luck

Q: Has anyone heard of or used the diabetes “cure” called MELABIC?
I’ve seen the ads, I have scoured the website, and I am on Julia Hanf’s e-mail list. I would like to hear about some results to see if there is any merit to her claims. Thanks!

A: Try it if you want to waste your money, but there is nothing magical here that helps regulate blood glucose. Even cinnamon has recently been proven not to help. Alpha Lipoic Acid can be helpful with neuropathy, but only in much larger amounts. And of course, only Type 2’s should try this stuff but don’t stop your regular meds. Type 1’s always need insulin, no other options.

Here are the ingredients:

15 mg Zinc (as Zinc Oxide)
0.25 mg Chromium (as Chromium Amino Acid Chelate)
400 mg Gymnema Sylvestre Pwd
300 mg Cinnamon Powder (cinnamomum Verum)(bark)
160 mg Banaba (1% Corosolic Acid)
300 mg Bitter Mellon Powder 4:1 Extract (momordica Charantia)
0.2 mg Biotin
300 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid
500 mg Fenugreek

Q: How does gene therapy work to cure diabetes?
Can someone please talk me through step by step the process of gene therapy! and how potentially in the future it could be used to cure diabetes. Thanks! And if you have any sources post the link to please

A: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/science/21c/genetics/geneticdiseasesrev2.shtml

Have a look at the website above – it helped me to understand Gene Therapy better. The website is really good in explaining the simple steps. Hope you find this useful.

Q: How to cure diabetes in a young mother?
A young mother of 24 yrs is having diabetes and she has to take insulin daily. What is the best ayurvedic, dietary or natural remedy for her? As she has to care for her baby all through the day, she is unable to do any exercise.

A: Diabetes canNOT be cured. it can only be CONTROLLED.

Since she is taking insulin, we are not clear if she is a Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetic. Treatment will be based on what type of diabetic she is.

Type 1 Diabetes is characterized by a complete failure of the pancreas. This most often happens in children uner the age of 18, but it is not uncommon for young adults as old as 30 to get it. Type 2 Diabetes can also turn into Type1, after many years of poor treatment.

Type 2 Diabetes is caused by being overweight. This is most common in adults over 40, but with society’s ways of eating wrong foods and failing to get exercise, Type 2 Diabetes is now showing up in children as young as 9 years old!

And Type 2 Diabetes is VERY common if the mother had Gestational Diabetes while pregnant. In fact, a woman who has Gestational Diabetes is more than twice as likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes later in life.

There is only ONE treatment for Type 1 Diabetes — insulin shots. Since the body produces NO insulin, the shots are necessary, or she will die. The ONLY alternative is a risky, painful, and expensive pancreas transplant.

Type 2 diabetes can often be controlled through diet and exercise.

The Type 2 Diabetes MUST COMPLETELY ELIMINATE sugar from their diet. They can have NO sugar. That means no colas, sports drinks, energy drinks, canned fruit juices, candies, cakes, ice cream, pudding, doughnuts, cookies — ANYTHING with sugar MUST be ELIMINATED from the diet.

The patient MUST reduce the amounts of starches they eat. Eat fewer breads, crackers, pastas, rice, corn, and potatoes. It really help to get a Diabetic Cookbook, and learn what foods are starchy and what food are healthy.

And the patient MUST get more exercise. “She has to care for her baby” is just an excuse. if she does not get more exercise she is going to be hospitalized, limtied to a wheelchair or nursing home, or die — any of the three will leave her baby with NO care, and dying will leave the baby without a mother.

You could do her a great service by getting off the internet and volunteering to take care of the baby while she exercises!

THERE IS NO CURE FOR DIABETES. IF she can develop the self-discipline to change her eating habits and lifestyle, then the diabetes can be CONTROLLED, and she will live as long and as happy as a healthy perseon.

But for the rest of her life, the diabetes will still be inside her, just waiting for her to change her diet or forget to exercise. then, the diabetes will come back, and usually stronger and more viscious than before. the results can be heart attacks, strokes, blindness, amputation, kidney failure and dialysis — even death!

Good luck!

Q: How true that Omega 3 substance from tuna can cure diabetes?
Diabetes is the one of the killer disease today.

A: It’s not true. There is no cure for Diabetes. However, with Type 2 Diabetes ( Adult Onset or Lifestyle Diabetes) if a person loses weight, eats healthy, exercise and, monitoring of blood sugar levels, then they may no longer require oral hypoglycemics ( to lower blood sugar) and/or insulin. Omega 3 fatty acids are helpful with some conditions because it helps the body to build healthy new cells. There are studies that suggest that fish oil is good for heart health, reduction of bad cholesterol and, there is some evidence that it may reduce blood sugar levels but, it does not cure Diabetes. I hope that this helped some. Here’s a web:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega-3_fatty_acid

Q: How do you cure diabetes?
What is the cure for diabetes?

A: There is no cure. It changes your entire lifestyle.

Here is a great site to learn more!

http://www.diabetes.org/about-diabetes.jsp

Q: How can i raise money to donate to cure diabetes?
i’m 15 years old and really would like to raise money to help the cause of diabetes. Should i have a bake sale, sell things i just don’t know what to do for it and if so where can i sell things to raise money for it thanks for all your help

A: Your best bet would be to get a JOB. Yes a JOB. And then give all money to research. Give it to Nasa. They promised a cure for diabetes 30 years ago. Billions of dollars later, NOTHING.

Wishful Thinking. Or magical thinking. Which means , Having a thought and then it just happens! Better yet just buy ice cream cones for diabetics. They will be happy and you will feel fulfilled!

Q: Has anyone heard about a cure for diabetes used with…?
I hear this one scientist found that lettuce could possibly cure diabetes, this guys name is Henry Daniell… has anyone heard about it, I just found out that it was on the news 2 years ago and i never knew a thing about it, until i tried to research about the cure myself… I mean, has anyone heard about any follow ups on that research? and if you want to see it on the news go to youtube and type in “Diabetes cured with lettuce”

A: The key to curing a disease that affects 21 million people in the U.S. could be found on your dinner table nearly every night.

One University of Central Florida professor may have finally unlocked the code to wipe diabetes completely off the map.

Dr. Henry Daniell and his team of 20 bio-medical researchers have worked for five years, experimenting with genetically modified lettuce and its affect on diabetes patients.

They have come up with what they believe is a cure for diabetes.

“This would be not only a cure, but also an inexpensive cure,” Daniell said.

A person with diabetes is sentenced to a lifetime of needles and careful monitoring of their blood sugar levels.

“I believe that it’s going to be a very significant advancement and so far there has been no permanent cure for diabetes,” said Daniell. “This is the first time the root cause of the problem, the immune disorder, is tackled.”

Genetically modified lettuce is grown in a lab at UCF.

A leaf is placed in a machine and injected with the human gene for insulin.

“We can really be happy that we have made progress that helps a society, especially large numbers of people,” said Daniell.

For people living with diabetes, the find is a major breakthrough.

Daniell said he has been stunned by the response from his find.

He’s received thousands of e-mails and phone calls, mostly from Florida residents.

Daniell first tested his insulin-producing lettuce on mice, and the results were shocking.

“By the end of the study, the diabetic mice had normal blood and urine sugar levels,” Daniell said. “And their cells were producing normal levels of insulin.”

These results occurred after just eight weeks of treatment.

Daniell said if human trials, which are now under way, are successful, it would impact millions of diabetics worldwide and provide a permanent and affordable cure for the disease.

His team has found a way to grind the lettuce down to a fine green powder that can be distributed in the form of a capsule, which helps regulate the dosage.

Daniell is currently conducting clinical trials with a major pharmaceutical company.

If all goes well, this cure for diabetes could be made available to millions of people with diabetes in four years.

Now if you believe this , I have a bridge over here in THAILAND that I would like to sell to you.
Pipe dreams are easily sold to the unwary.

Q: Do I need to bring food and drinks for my team to a walk to cure diabetes?
We put together a family team for a JDRF walk and have about 50 people walking with us. I wasn’t sure if we are supposed to supply the food and drinks for our walkers or if JDRF provides all that. We’ll be walking this Saturday, November 14 so I’ll need an answer pretty soon. Thanks!

A: That is a wonderful achievement! I am excited for you! I wish I had the experience of knowing for sure if they supply the food and drink or if you need to provide it yourself – however, I use this rule of thumb, if you are diabetic, you never leave anything for chance, bring a little cooler of things that will help you get through the day…

You could contact the people who organized this event to find out for sure if there will be refreshment provided – I bet that is part of the plan, as I went on a walkathon, and the sponsors provided sandwiches and cool drinks-

Thanks for doing what you are doing -

Q: Is there insulin injection to cure diabetes forever?
I heard from reliable sources that there is an injuction which cure diabetes permanently. It is avialable in american and since last two years it is avialable in India as well as in mumbai. If it is so let me know where should I get it and what will be the cost of it and morever is it cure permanently in an injuction?

A: We received an unsolicited e-mail on October 19, 2002, from “Doctor Ho Wing” that read as follows:
Drug companies and some doctors keep telling diabetes “NO CURE” “UNCURABLE” do you know why ?
I CURE Diabetes Disease, Absolutely !
I CURE diabetes disease, believe me, never Insulin injection, forget your diabetes for ever. I keep your Pancreas working and Glucose under 200 mg/dl for ever with NO MEDICATION. Normal Glucose range for NON-DIABETICS is 70-120mg/dl, Normal Glucose range for CURED DIABETICS is 70-199mg/dl, The Glucose range for DIABETICS is 200-550mg/dl.
I accept only type 1 diabetics or very serious cases. My cure for this disease is Chinese Herbal and natural medicine. It is a 2 to 4 months direct Treatment from doctor to patient.
NO INJECTION ! NO SURGERY ! NO DANGEROUS DRUGS !
Absolutely NO SIDE EFFECT !
Remember ! You pay my Treatment after you are CURED and SATISFIED ! Otherwise, DO NOT PAY ! Before your doctor start to cut your foot and hand, please call ! let me save your life !

[Curiosity led me to search the Internet for anything reflecting Dr. Wing's capabilities. The following website seems to be the only discussion. At EL Rincón de la Polémica, which is in Spanish, there's a page entitled El Dr. Ho Wing y la cura de la diabetes (Dr. Ho Wing and the cure of diabetes). It seems that others have questioned his methods, and he has not responded adequately. A rough translation of the conclusion of the article is as follows.]
Of all the repercussions, one letter stands out: it was sent to Ho Wing by Dr Alberto Alvarez Melero, diabetólogist, Director of Metabolism of Clinical Santa Clarita of the English Hospital of the Northwest (Tijuana, Mexico):

“To dare to say that there is a diabetes cure, when we have nothing to judge it scientifically… is not an easy task. Therefore I respectfully request to Dr Ho Wing to please send his scientific studies on the matter to me. I promise him to be impartial and to put in the scientific balance his experimental results and methods.

If there is the ability to reproduce these resultes in a laboratory approved by the world-wide scientific community and to be certain of the observations, I will be first in writing to the Karolinska Institute so that it is evaluated for him to receive the Nobel prize”.

We received an unsolicited e-mail on November 24, 2002, that read as follows:
Hello Friends,
I’m sending this letter to my entire email list because I’m so excited about an article that was sent to me about a new product that has just been developed for Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and High Cholesterol. It’s working MIRACLES!!! … The Manufacturers of Glucotor Are So Sure of This Product They Are Offering a 90 Day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. …

But someone wrote to the website, and got the following answer:
Question:
Dear Healing America: I have a friend and her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 3 years old. Now he is 12 I think and on daily insulin shots. I listen to the training call last night and I know that the Glucotor helps people with type 2 diabetes but could it help someone with type 1 also? At least to control his blood sugar so that he didn’t have to be on insulin or at least cut back on his shots. Or can this in any way help someone with type 1 diabetes if so in what way and what would the dosage be? This is really someone I would love to help out so thank you for your time. Tina

Answer:
So far we haven’t attempted to try it on a Type1. The reason being the medical doctors on board say that it won’t work for a type 1. The guarntee wouldn’t apply to a Type 1. They need to go into it knowing it probably won’t work BUT who knows.

[Hmm. Interesting guarantee. If you have type 1 diabetes, they will encourage you to buy the stuff, "knowing it probably won't work", but they won't give you your money back if it doesn't work!]

Good Luck!

Q: is there a cure to diabetes type 2 ? if there is what is it?

A: The usual treatment for type 2 diabetes patients is the prescription of oral tablets. There are mainly 4 different types of tablet treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. These 4 different oral treatments are usually taken alone or in combination. Many patients with type 2 diabetes find that these medications when taken with a healthy eating pattern will keep their diabetes under control. However it will usually take some time to discover the most effective combination or dosage for each individual patient.
These treatment tablets all work in different ways to help control type 2 diabetes. Some of the tablets will help the pancreas to produce more insulin while others help the body to better use of the insulin the pancreas produces. There are also tablets, which slow down the speed at which the body absorb glucose from the intestine.

If you are interested in more info on treatment for type 2 diabetes, you may wish to refer to this site : http://diabetic.best-health-remedy.com/

Q: Is there a cure out for Diabetes (Type 2)?
I heard from a friend but I’m not certain if there is a cure.

A: Some doctors have had success with diabetes patients by getting them to exercise and helping them understand how food affects them. These doctors believe diabetes is caused by nutritional deficiencies. Some patients are able to completely come off of their medications as a result.

I have found a website that helps explain the food and other areas to help you make the best choices for a better life.

Good luck to you.

Q: Is there a cure for type 2 diabetes?

A: No a cure is not available. Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder and there are no know cures for Autoimmune disorders as of yet.

Q: Any new drug or cure for diabetes?
Looking for cure or help info?

A: The only cure to date for type 1 OR type 2 , is a pancreas transplant. They are coming up with new drugs to help control diabetes all the time. Please don’t get sucked into the fables that there are herbal cures out there for diabetes, because it is NOT true. I almost died trying things like this. Claims of cures are just to sell the herbs and have absolutely no clinical proof of curing or helping diabetes.

Q: Does any one know the place in europe wher they cure diabetes with a new stem cell???
I heard their was a place in europe wher they cure diabetes with a new stem cell is that even true

A: NO I wish there was Id be first in line

Q: do u know about the new way for cure of diabetes type 1 for children has 7 years old?
i looking for definite cure, not about control of diabeted type 1. please informe me for any vaccine or drug for definite cure. thankf

A: At this time, there IS NO DEFINITE CURE.

But on the horizon are some new possibilities that are STILL in the animal testing stages.

The first uses adult stem cells to regrow the Islet Cells in your pancreas that produce insulin. This has worked IN MICE — but is a LONG way from being given to humans. IF this proves effective in HUMANS, then a commercial treatment is still 15-20 years away.

A Pancreas Transplant is a possibility, but is very very dangerous. Pancreas Transplant is the least effective of all the transplanted organ. Heart transplants easily live 10-15 years longer. Kidney transplants live 15-30 years longer.

But pancreas transplant live only 5-7 years longer. In fact, more than 50% of the patients are dead within 5 years. Therefore, most doctors will NOT do a pancreas transplant unless the patient is going to die anyway. In this case, even a couple of years longer is better than nothing.

But Type 1 Diabetes in a 7-year-old is EASILY treatable with insulin, diet, and exercise. NO doctor would recommend a transplant to an otherwise healthy patient!

There are some other possibilities, but they are are even more unsure, and have MANY years of experiment to go through before humans can be involved.

In the mean time, the 7-year-old needs to learn what CAN and CANNOT be eaten, and that the medication are KEEPING HER ALIVE, and without them shot she WILL die.

Q: any new medical interventions for curing diabetes?
I have had type 1 diabetes for my whole life. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any new medical interventions that would help in the management, or totally getting rid of diabetes.
Thank you

A: I’ve had diabetes since I was three. So, I know exactly what you’re going through

So far, they don’t have an official cure for type one diabetes except for implanting a new pancreas. This process is fairly new and they’re still in the trial and error phase of it.

Depending on your age, diet and exercise are your best bet for getting your blood sugar numbers under control.

Hopefully, with the law that passed to promote stem cell research, they will be able to find a cure. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Hope this helps you out!

Q: Cure for Diabetes!?
is it true that they found a new cure for diabetes (other than Herbal thing)? something that makes sense?
specially for type-1 diabetes?!

A: No, there is no cure for now except a pancreas transplant. (and the herbal thing is not for real) If there was a cure, your doctor would tell you right away.
There have been many, many claims just like the above answer and they are all not true. We discuss this at almost every diabetic ed class that I go to because there is always some new claim. (I go every month) Most of them are just money making schemes.

Q: Could this be possible ?Chili extract a possible Cure for diabetes?
Chili Extract A Possible Cure for Diabetes
Scientists have discovered that after injecting capsaicin, a chili extract, insulin levels increased and restored blood glucose levels to normal virtually overnight. This discovery of the role for sensory nerves in diabetes opens door to new treatment strategies.

A: Again, there is NO CURE for type 2 diabetes with possibly one exception – testosterone replacement therapy.

Anything else is just ‘another’ treatment.

The only cure for a type 1 and 1.5 is a pancreas transplant (right now).

To be cured of any diabetes, such a cure must be able to do all of the following:

1) Be able to eat absolutely anything you want
2) Eat whenever your want.
3) Eat as much as you want
4) Have blood sugars between 70 & 100 at all times, even after eating.
5) Require no ongoing diabetic treatments of ANY kind after the initial treatment.
6) Not require any form of exercise or any ‘regular’ consumption of anything at any time.

All of this with total impunity related to blood sugar levels.

The greatest hope for a cure lies with stem cell research.

No oral food can cure a ‘dead’ pancreas, like in type 1 diabetics.

Q: A new drug sold in France, not yet US, cures diabetes, high cholesterol, h. blood pressure.Anyone knows the name
I have heard a new drug is already sold in France, but yet not aproved by FDA in the US, to cure high cholesterol, diabetes, and other symptoms related to obese people. I would like to know which lab is producing it and its commercial brand name.

A: yes, it’s called “diet and exercize”. Get your’s today!

Q: How do i cure my hamster if it has Diabetes?
My hamster Smokey had Diabetes he was only 6 months old and he died. And now my girl hamster has it her name is Rosie and i really need help! Plz awnser so i can save my new hamster Rosie and save her life she is a very pretty looking hamster and i want her to live. She is a russian dwarf hamster so plz help:) If u have any tips or suggestions plz awnser! Thank u !!!

A: How do you know it has diabetes? Only a vet can tell for sure. And if the vet says she has it, the vet will tell you how to keep your hamster healthy.

Q: Diabetes, cure/treatment, what alternatives are there?
A dear friend of mine, 57y/o female, has done everything she knows to stop the progression. I am sending a note in a bottle out to you, the loving individuals who respond to these questions, for some new ideas.

Divine blessings upon you!

A: Unfortunately, there is no cure for either type of diabetes. If she is type 2 a healthy diet and exercise can help to a point. She will need to watch her diet, get daily exercise, and visit her doctor every 3 months. Tell her to take her meds exactly as the doctor has instructed her, and get a dietitian or nutritionist. My nutritionist told me about the South Beach diet. It teaches about good and bad carbs, gives lists of food to eat and not to eat. It is not an exchange diet and does not count carbs or calories. It’s very easy and healthy. If she were to decide to use this diet, tell her to skip phase one and start with phase two. Stay away from white bread, and anything thing made with white flour, including pastas. No white potatoes and no white rice. If she is type 2, she will have to watch her diet closely. I have tried so many alternative methods of treating diabetes, and most of them did my body harm. I ended up almost dying and in the hospital from herbal treatment from a very reputable Chinese doctor. Just do what the doctor says. Good luck to the both of you.

Q: My new club at school needs ideas of different fund-raisers?
We already have ideas like:

Diabetes Cure
Red Cross
Cancer Cure
Breast Cancer Foundation
and things like that.

Do you have any ideas for charities and fund-raisers teeangers would like to participate in? We’re starting a new club and need more kids to join, so we want to pick charities people would like to help with.

Thanks!

A: i’d try peer mediation. but r u trying to build a fundraiser or a club. great ideas for fundrasing are car washing, donuts, or have a dance or have people bid on guys and girls to raise money. and if your school has a certain dress code policy– get together with the administration and have students pay a fee and they can where that restricted item to school. and my last idea is have competition between the freshmen. sophs, juniors, and seniors. make spirit links and sale for 1.00. all else fails sale candy bars. they always gp over great. buena suerte!

Q: Pancreas transplant… cure for diabetes… what?
There was just a story on my CBS morning news about a type 1 diabetic woman who had been on the kidney transplant list and got a new kidney and the surgery was done by the Da Vinci robot. At the end of the story they said that she’s on the transplant list, this time for a new pancreas that will hopefully cure her diabetes. I knew there was talk and trials for pancreas and for pancreatic cell transplants, but I didn’t know that they were actually doing any of them out side of trials. My doctor hasn’t said boo about this too me. Has anyone herd of this being done? I’ve been a type 1 for 25 years, I’d love to get on the transplant list if I can.

A: My life is much, much, much better following my kidney and pancreas transplant. I was type 1 diabetic for 30 plus years, and had kidney failure as a complication of that. So, almost 4 years ago now, I had both transplants at the same time, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, in the US.

My results have been perfect. I have not been on insulin since the transplant. I love the fact that since I’m no longer diabetic, I should not be able to get new complications. I love the freedom. I love eating what I want and not trying to figure out carbs to insulin ratio. And I never get tired of seeing that my blood sugar is 95 fasting and then 125 after I eat – way too cool (although I don’t check my blood sugar anymore, lalala).

And I really love being off dialysis.

I have had no problems with any of my anti-rejection drugs. I have had no side effects. Frankly even if I had some, it would be worth getting away from the deadly complications of diabetes. I do not get infections any easier than anyone else. You do have to have common sense about being around sick people, but I’ve had no problems.

Of course results are different. Some people are like me and basically cured. Some people still have to take some insulin; some who were type I before only have to take pills afterward. Sometimes unfortunately it does not work. And sometimes the organ is rejected.

If you do not have complications, you probably don’t need a transplant. Plus, while there are plenty of organs, there are not nearly enough organ DONORS – unfortunately people don’t donate or don’t allow their family members to donate, which I find sad. Thank god for my donor’s mom. I received my two organs because of her willingness to allow donation.

It would be great to see better, more positive comments about organ transplants. Please spread the word that yes, the pancreas can be transplanted, and the quality of life can be so much better.

To find more people w/ pancreas (& kidney) transplants – they frequently go together – go to the message boards at kidney.org

Q: Can stem cells really cure Diabetes?
Is there some process that is theoretically recreates a new pancreas using stem cells?

A: Stem cells from cord blood already cures many diseases, and they are close to curing diabetes.

They are working hard to find a cure using cord blood, but that is not making it into the news like it should. Cord blood stem cells are saving lives and embryonic ones are not. There is no need to research embyonic stem cells, as we have so far to go and so many diseases being cured right now with cord blood. But the money is not in the cord blood, therefore the drug companies will continue to push with their lobbyists for embryonic money.

Q: What is the status of Diabetes research for 2008?
Though-out the past couple of years, new cases of diabetes has risen and I was wondering if anyone knew… if they are still trying to find a cure for it. This is very important to me and thank you for your help…

A: Now that Obama is pushing more scientific research, including stem cell, we should get a push in research. Last year it was revealed that diabetics who had gastric bypass surgery (not just lap band) were about 87% likely to lose their diabetes. Based on that, my father had it January 15. He immediately went off the pills, and though he’s still been taking insulin, just last night he forgot, and his blood sugar this morning was only 113! Before, he was often at 200, even with the medication (he’s also lost almost 60 pounds!).

Q: Does a vegan diet cure diabetes, or just put it into remission?

A: I have a lot to say here as I am a health fanatic and know a lot about diabetes (with several family members having it).

I don’t think you can put it completely into remission, BUT you can gain full control of your blood sugar levels and maybe slightly improve your glucose tolerance by eating a vegetable rich diet with proper protein intake which will allow you to live as if you never even had diabetes and still treat yourself every once and a while to something sweet/unhealthy (and I know some people who are like this). On one note though, you can NOT ignore certain protein sources like meat, dairy, and eggs. Certain necessary amino acids like l-taurine and others are ONLY found in meat, dairy, and egg proteins and many of these amino acids are beneficial and critical to maintaining your blood sugar balance. My grandfather is type 2 diabetes and was once on a low fat, very limited meat/protein diet for a long time until he saw a well respected cardiologist from Johns Hopkins (baltimore) who told him that his body wasn’t making certain non-essential amino acids (in his liver) which affected his hearth health, blood sugar, cellular energy, and cholesterol and that he needed to get more protein and more of the (anti-inflammatory and heart healthy) omega 3 and to eat more healthy fats (like olive oil/fish oil)– no red meat and no flax oil though. If you eat meat, make sure it’s free range, organic. If it’s going to be beef, it MUST be grass fed. Grain fed cows (as opposed to grass fed-free range) have the highest levels of saturated fats and lowest levels of omega 3 fatty acids. Similarly free range eggs and raw butter have the higher levels of omega 3’s.

About going vegan– Plant derived proteins are harder for your body to digest and assimilate (because the cell walls of the cells in plants are very tough), so if you do go vegan, cook fibrous, cruciferous veggies well– cooking breaks down the cell walls allowing your digestive system to digest the inner parts of the cell where all the nutrients are. Limit 1 serving of soy a day. Also eat high protein grains (like quinoa, millet, sprouted grains bead) and eat a wide variety of beans, legumes, seeds, and nuts. Eat raw nuts too and make sure you soak them before hand. If you eat seeds make sure you sprout them before eating them (Mung bean sprouts are good). Try to make an exception and eat lowfat organic yogurt– the probiotics and proteins in yogurt are GOOD for you. Also, while soy is healthy, many vegans tend to over consume soy which is a problem because soy has phyto-estrogens in it that (according to my doctor) act like estrogen in the body which can accumulate and disrupt the delicate hormonal balance of your body and cause certain problems (like a diminished muscle mass, mood, and libido).

There are certain herbs and supplements that you can take that will either raise or lower your blood sugar and lower cholesterol too (like cinnamon, ginseng, bitter melon, Psyllium fiber, ginger, tumeric, holy basil, fennugreek, etc) BUT if I were you, I wouldn’t take any of these without seeing a certified naturopathic-type doctor (like a TCM doctor, chiropractor, ND, nutritionist/herbalist). Fish oil (capsules) is something you can start taking to help keep your bad cholesterol down, blood sugar balanced, and brain healthy– it also fights inflammation which is something that people with diabetes will need to guard against. I even take fish oil (I’m not diabetic)- I take it for prevention. You can get it anywhere (walmart), just make sure that the bottle says it’s purified. If you choose to go fully vegan (and not even eat yogurt), take probiotics (like flora Q).

The good news is that there is a pharmaceutical company that is researching this antioxidant compound (only be available through prescription from a MD) called resveratrol (it’s from red wine). You can already buy this in health stores, but is not going to be the same quality or strength as the drug version that they are researching/making right now– the cool thing is that it’s a natural phyto-compound extracted from red wine/grapes. They did small studies in india on people with type 2 diabetes with this and discovered that several diabetes indication markers such as glucose tolerance and blood sugar balance improved… there was also a reduction in bad cholesterol. The hemoglobin A1c test and tests showed improvements that lasted for months after the resveratrol therapy. While the long term studies that they’re doing now will tell, they are hypothesizing that resveratrol will also reverse damage done to cell mitochondria which would restore some energy to people with cellular mitochondria damage over a long period of the drug therapy. This is also being researched for use with people with cancer and people with diabetes related aging and heart conditions.

Q: Do you think a vegan raw diet can cure cancer, diabetes or any other health condition?
Yes or no, why, why not?
Thanks.
I don’t disagree with you, i whole heartedly agree it can’t cure cancer.
Ashley or whatever your name is YESTERDAY in a question you said you ate meat 5 times a day to keep your protein up for your muscle building?!
LOL

A: No. There has been no proof of any such thing. Basing beliefs on studies as opposed to actual scientific research leads to many misconceptions.

Although, a healthy diet, designation irrelevant, can lessen some health risks.

You know, many here like to talk about eating meat leading to colon cancer. But, when they make that statement they neglect to explain that the consumption of fruits, vegetables and fiber negates that risk. As of matter of fact, those studies usually won’t mention that either. Why? Agenda. A study is simply a collection of data from a cross section of people. A limited # of specific questions are answered and these questions are aimed at promoting an idea before they’re even answered. In the case of meat and health, a study doesn’t differentiate between a meat eater who works in a coal mine or a vegetarian marathon runner for example. They are simply 2 people in the study. It doesn’t differentiate between a meat eater with family genetic history of illness and a meat eater who eats only lean meats in moderation and exercises regularly. They are simply 2 people in the study. This is NOT scientific research. It’s simply the statistical response to a skewed set of questions and we’ll never know what info. was not included when the findings are published either.

I’d be surprised if any one of us has never taken a survey or answered a questionnaire where we had to choose an answer that really didn’t fit us, but it was the closest one available. Or had to choose between 2 answers that both fit, but could only choose one as an answer. This is the fallibility of “studies”. At the end of the day, the only answer you get from a study is “maybe”.

Q: Can a vegan diet cure diabetes?

A: Hi,

You might want to read this book.

Dr. Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes.

Dr. Barnard’s patients show that changing diet can change your life. There is a list of type one and type two diabetics. It shows how they changed their diet and then where able to have a more stable blood sugar level, even while reducing the amount of medication.

Good Luck!

Q: Diabetes cured through diet and exercise?
I heard a story about a boy who had diabetes at a young age because of genetic reasons. He had maintained an excellent diet his whole life and was on the wrestling team his freshman year of high school. Just a few weeks into wrestling season he was cured from diabetes and his body began to function as it is suppose to. I don’t know if this is a true story, but could it be possible? Is diabetes curable through diet and excercise?

A: That is quite a story, but I’ve never heard of this before. I would think if it were true, many people would be exercising alot more! I have had people with diabetes in my classes, and their blood sugar does come down and level out when they exercise on a consistent basis and they feel alot better. Being cured? No.

Q: can low carb diet cure diabetes? or get it enough under control to not need insulin.?
I have type II diabetes and have been taking oral medication (pills) for it. I admit that I haven’t tried too hard to eat right but now I want to get healthier and lose weight and most of all get rid of the diabetes. I am planning to do Atkins, which is low carb diet. Will low carb dieting lower and regulate my blood sugar and get rid of diabetes? Will it at least control it enough to not need the insulin (in small dose for now) that my doctor wants me to start taking. Please help!

A: Probably will work for you . Yes a low glycemic diet is in order. You need a GLYCEMIC INDEX. You will find it easier than Adkins Diet. And works better. Heres the website:http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm

This has a list of 2, 480 foods.

It should be your eating bible for life. Take care >

Use ¼ to ½ teaspoon of cinnamon per day. Add it to your coffee, oatmeal, smoothie, or wherever you find it palatable.
If you already suffer from diabetes, be sure to stay on a regular schedule with your cinnamon usage so that your blood sugar levels don’t yo-yo.Use the same amount at the same time every day so that you can get a sense of how cinnamon affects your own personal blood sugar readings.
Use the powdered spice or a cinnamon stick. Cinnamon pills are also available, and can be found easily via an online search. MHCP is water soluble and is not found in cinnamon oil.

Lime and lemon juice delay the digestion of starches as does vinegar. I’ve found that 2-3 tablespoons of lime or lemon juice reduces my post prandial BG response by 10-20 points. Rick Mendosa’s site has a lot of material on acids in the diet. Take a look at http://www.mendosa.com/acidic_foods.htm .

Q: Is a Vegan Diet good for diabetes?
I have recently heard that a vegan diet would cure diabetes. Is there any evidence of this that can be found/ What percent of vegans are diabetic? I appreciate any input on this subject from those of you with information. Have a wonderful weekend and a fabulous LORD’s DAY! Thank you, Eds, A Simple Christian .
Pangel and KatyZo,
I am a type 1 diabetic of more than 40 years. I have done more reseascr on the topic than most medics that I have been with. Their expertise is NOT diet at all. I have an allergy to some milk products that has been with me since birth and the research that I have read found that every type 1 diabetic also has this to be the case. I watched a newscast that a gentleman told that he had and could cure diabetes from a change of diet to EXCLUDE all meat products and biproducts. I believe that this is a vegan diet essentially. I will get HIS name and include it here.

A: is that type 1 or type 2 Eds
type 2 is diet controlled and may benefit from a vegan diet
type one needs carbohydrates in order for the insulin to take effect , so a vegan diet would be very difficult with type 2
I would definitely ask your doctor about this before taking anyones opinion on it though

Q: I know of people cured naturally of diabetes through detoxing and diet – what is best detoxing?
A friend of mine’s husband was cured of diabetes naturally through diet, nutrition, and most especially, detoxing. I have been out of touch with my friend for a while now, but I never found out what detoxing is and if there is any special nutrition.

A: This is kind of funny when someone has to put “blah, blah, RETIRED NURSE…” thinking that people will be impressed. With me, it is quite the opposite – as though you are trying to justify some shortcomings. I say this because I am living proof that it can be completely cured – my brother-in-law showed me how because I was thirsty, tired, and I had to urinate all the time. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. It took about 6 months and after 5 months I knew I did not have diabetes anymore. Why? Because I wasn’t tired, thirsty, and did not have to urinate all the time anymore.

I had not been to the doctor during this time, and kept giving the doctor excuses for not going back. After I decided to go back, my brother-in-law told me not to tell the doctor anything. The doctor did a blood test again and said, “That’s really strange – there is no sign of diabetes in your blood anymore…but you know, this happens sometimes…” Of course it does doc!! LOL

It was through detoxing and good nutrition that I was cured. As the person above mentioned about the sun revolving around the earth, the “retired nurse” and the others still living in the time when the sun revolved around the earth need to realize what a crock so much “modern” medicine actually is.

The people who are actually curing people of Type 2 diabetes and cancer everyday can be found at www.gerson.org.

Q: Can you cure diabetes by losing weight?
If an obese 200 pound woman, lost about 100 poounds on a low carb diet, could she be cured from her diabetes?

A: losing weight helps a lot.

Q: South Indian diet for insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes?
What is the healthy South Indian diet to cure insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes?

A: Fiber
The Indian Council of Medical Research suggests a daily intake of 25 to 35 grams of fiber. Fiber helps to naturally reduce glucose levels. In the Indian diet, high fiber foods include things like bran, whole grains, cereal, fresh fruit, dried fruit, raw vegetables, red beans, bean sprouts, mullet preparations, cluster beans, drumstick stems, lotus stems, curry leaves, pomegranate, green chilies, coriander, and cardomon seeds.Introduction to high fiber foods should be done slowly and progressively; increase the amount of fiber by five grams a day until you meet the 35 grams per day limit. Doing so will help you to avoid the feeling of a distended abdomen and problems with flatulence or bowel regularity.

Carbohydrates
The diabetic should consume 65 to 75 percent of daily calories in complex carbohydrates. This will ensure that blood sugar levels remain regulated. Complex carbohydrate consumption helps minimize blood cholesterol triglycerides and also improves digestive processes. Food sources for the diabetic include legumes, rice and whole wheat bread.

Proteins
25 percent of daily calories come from protein. Food sources include soy beans, cheese, chicken, egg whites, fish and leafy green vegetables. A diet that is excessive in protein can have harmful effects on the liver and kidneys, forcing them to work harder.

Channa
Channa dal is a legume that us a common part of the Indian diet; these legumes are revered for their anti-diabetic properties. Channa is fiber-rich and lower blood sugar levels naturally. It also reduces fasting blood sugar levels by thwarting the passage of sugars into the urine; this reduces one’s insulin requirements.

Cholesterol
The Indian diet for type 2 diabetes also recommends lowering cholesterol intake. High levels of cholesterol contribute to cardiovascular disease; no more than 300 milligrams of cholesterol should be eaten daily.Baking, steaming, roasting or grilling foods reduce cholesterol levels, rather than frying them. Consume low-fat or skim milk products instead of whole-milk varieties.

Q: What is the best herbal product to control diabetes? or is there a cure for it?
I have diabetes from last 8 years. I need to know about best herbal product which I can use it in my diet plans which can either cure or keep my Blood Sugar level in control. between 70-110 fasting and 110-160 random. Do you have any suggestions please?

A: In order to keep your blood sugar level under control, read the following paragraph to update your knowledge about diabetes:

You need not to panic to visit a doctor. There are no Allopathic medicines available in the market that will cure the diabetic conditions of humans but they will control the disorder up to certain levels. The disease is developed due to eating disorders and hereditary. In the first place, I have never accepted diabetes as disease but considered it to be a disorder. The medicine is readily available at home in the form of natural products and you need not to go to market to purchase expensive medicines. To keep the sugar level under control, follow my suggestions and see the difference. Drink the juice of one bitter gourd, one cucumber and one tomato on empty stomach in the morning on a regular basis (drink this juice twice a day if you are insulin dependent) until you start feeling relief and your blood sugar level starts decreasing and continue further for a very long time until your sugar level reaches border line. The sugar level will certainly come down. Eat plenty of cucumber before meal to quench your thrust and to fill your empty stomach. Cucumbers are considered and proved to be very good for diabetic patients. Diabetic patients are always hungry to eat but can not eat all. Avoid banana, mango, custard apple and sweets like ice cream, pastry and cold drinks totally. If you are insulin dependent, even eating rice would be very harmful. You can eat fruits like guava, pineapple, pomegranate, papaya, muskmelon and watermelon. Taking one tea-spoon Fenugreek powder and quarter tea-spoon cinnamon powder on empty stomach, before breakfast daily, would be beneficial to diabetic patients. Regular brisk walking for one hour daily would be the best ideal medicine for diabetic patients. Cut down on non-vegetarian, fast, spicy and oily food, aerated cold drinks and foods rich in calories. Correct constipation. Avoid alcohol and tobacco also. Tea and coffee are also bad for health because they promote calcium excretion from the body and calcium loss from bones. Drink plenty of water daily. Take one tablet of Diabecon (By Himalaya an Herbal Health Care Company in India) twice a day as a maintenance dose. Take care and be in good health.

Q: Can onset Diabetes be cured with regular exercise and diet control? Come back to normal life later?

A: CURED — no. NO form of diabetes can be cured. Once you have it you must fight it the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

HOWEVER — if you are successful (meaning that you do EXACTLY what the doctor says, take STRICT control of your diet, get more exercise, and control your weight) then you can CONTROL it, and it will have little effect on your life.

But understand that even when you have NO symptoms, you are STILL a diabetic, and you MUST maintain control of the disease by taking control of your lifestyle. If you slip up just a little bit, the diabetes WILL come back.

Q: what are your thoughts on the raw food diet and Diabetes?
I heard it can cure type 1 and type 2 is it true?

A: Nothing can cure type 1 except a pancreas transplant. As for type 2, it can only be controlled to the point of appearing normal, it will never go away completely.

Q: is the Atkins diet good for people with Diabetes????
can it prevent diabetes or cure it (can you even cure diabetes, or is it something you’ll have forever) ????
I’m not actually interested on going on the diet… and i dont have diabetes.
I’m doing a case study on the diet and heard it helped diabetes. Obviously not!
Oh and Dr.Atkins died from slipping on ice and getting a brain heamorrage. (spl?)

A: I am not a doctor, so take this or leave it. But with type 2 adult onset DM YES YES YES YES YES YES YES do atkins. Call it whatever you want but do it. Eat as much as you want, but only eat things that will not raise your blood sugar.

My glucose always ran 370+ and I was on all sorts of meds with a doctor wanting to put me on insulin. ( I refused) Atkins is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful for DM. A highfat diet with little or no sugar cured the disease in my life. My glucose now runs like 65-75 almost all the time.

Once your learn how your body digests food and stores fat you will be able to control your blood sugar by a ketogenic diet unless you have the DM that is caused by an auto immune disease. IT DOES WORK! As God is my witness it really does work.

I eat mostly highfat foods like olives, eggs, butter, cream, pork with fat, beef with fat, smoked salmon, macademia nuts, creme cheese, avocados etc. I love boiled eggs with butter. I love cream. It really is my favorite food. I whip it and put splenda in it and either freeze it or eat it like whipped cream. You can mix it with cream cheese and make a crustless cheese cake. Eggs are one of my favorite foods make into omelots with salsa. You can also eat any veggies that are not root veggies, some fruits like avocados, melons, and berries. I don’t eat grains except a few flax seeds on scrambled eggs.

I know some people make noise about Atkins and cholesterol, but it is simply not true from my experience or my husbands. My triglycerides were 44 last time they were checked. My total cholesterol was around 178. Atkins solved almost every health problem I had except a congenital problem with a heart node. But, I can live with that. I never had to count calories and ate all I wanted to eat. I lost weight so fast on that plan, yet probably ate 2500+ calories a day. I love it.

Look up and research a ketogenic diet. It does work. And yes atkins did die in a fall. He did have viral cardiomyopathy from a virus he caught on a mission trip, but he died from a fall. And his food choices had nothing to do with the heart issue.

I just know that I know that I know from my own personal experience that a ketogenic diet will solve the adult onset form of DM. I never bought the Atkins “Treats” or shakes or anything else. I just ate meat and fat and low sugar veggies and very few berries. It works.

I just wanted to clarify that when I say cream I mean heavy whipping cream. I buy it in quart containers from the store or by the gallon from my local farmer. I go through about 3-4 quarts a week for whipped cream products, cocoa, lattes etc. Don’t use the coolwhip stuff. Even the sugar free coolwhip is simply pure sugar. You want the highfat heavy cream so your body will not convert it to sugar or raise your blood sugar. Fat is only converted to sugar in your blood stream at about 10%, so if you eat mostly all fat, your blood sugar plunges. Protein is converted at around 40%, but carbs are converted at 100%. That is why you avoid them.

I heard Dr. Atkins say once that if you always keep your blood sugar below 100 it is physically impossible for your body to store fat. That means after you eat if your blood sugar doesn’t surge you will not gain weight. So if you eat all fat, it can’t surge. I just know it really worked for me. I lost 150lbs in less than 6 months and that was many years ago. I have kept it off with atkins.

Q: Why aren’t they trying to find a cure in Juvenile Diabetes? Does anyone really know the answer to this?
They say there trying to find a cure, and you hear about a possible cure every now and then on the news. But what is the real answer on why they haven’t found a cure. Is it because to much money that is spent on drugs, and doctor visits, etc is circulating around and this would hurt the economy even more if there was a cure. Juvenile Diabetes is a painful disease that is left to much in silence. Just why haven’t they found a cure?

A: What makes you think they aren’t trying? No one has called to offer youa “freebie” yet?

OF COURSE they are trying — but the cure hasn’t been found.

The NEWEST attempt uses adult stem cells injected into the pancreas. it HAS worked in mice.

But it is a LONG way from mice to men. MANY experiments must be done, procedures invented and proven safe, and finally YEARS of clinical trials using human subjects.

IF this proves to work on humans, it will be 20-30 YEARS before this cure is avialable to the public.

But they ARE working on it. Research has NOT stopped.

Juvenile Diabtes is a VERY complicated disease, and shares many commonalities with HIVB and psoriasis — both of which are uncured, as well. The current thought is that Juvenile Diabetes is an Autoimmune disease, like HIV, but htis mechansims needs MANY more years of research before it is completely understood. A cure from this source of reasearch is very possible — along wih a cure for AIDS and psoriasis — but it will be a long time coming.

Q: Is it possible to use human stem cells to cure juvenile diabetes?
Is it possible to use human stem cells to cure juvenile diabetes?

A: yes it is very possible. In fact human stem cells could quite possible cure certain types of cancer, parkinsons disease and many other diseases!

Q: Does anyone know anything about the knew way to cure juvenile diabetes?

A: There is NO way to cure diabetes.
Get with the program.

Q: Does stem cell research hold the key to a cure for juvenile diabetes?

A: More than likely it does; however, right now, Christian fundamentalists who care about their own sensibilities more than the lives of millions of people are blocking stem cell research so effectively that we may never see any potential advances come to fruition.

Please write your congressmen to ask that stem cell research be supported by our government, not thwarted by it.

Q: What kind of experimental research is going on for the cure of diabetes type 1 (juvenile onset)?
and what have the results been?
♥☆ɱʀ§. Ʀ○ʃϱ☆♥ – Nothing is wrong with my hair, you’re just a simple-minded b*tch
Narvegiy… – That link just took me to a Mexican pharmacy. It is not what I am looking for.
Atheist Bean – That is amazing.

A: All across the US and in Canada the National Institute of Health is working on transplanting Islet Cells, the cells that make insulin in the human body.
I was involved in one of the clinical trials in Philadelphia. They were having great success in Philly. The doctors have already cured 3 people of type 1 diabetes. There are still many problems with islet transplantion that the doctors across the country are trying to solve by doing these clinical trials. The goal is to make type 1 diabetes a thing of the past.
By the way, anyone interested in getting involved, like I was, google ‘islet transplant clinical trials’. They are still looking for people to cure. I unfortunately couldn’t go through with the transplant because of antigens from being pregnant.

On 17th, I contact his hospital TELEPHONICALLY & inquired about the availability of the treatment to Diabetics; especially about my 16 yr Juvenile Diabetic only Son*. A lady named Nalinibahen, replied on his behalf over the telephone that I may go to there in Ahmedabad during any Monday to Friday with prior appoint. On inquiry, She got confirmation that blood group of my son & of mine is equal. She told me about the procedure that on arrival, they, through minor surgery, collect a piece of fat from my stomack & let us leave the hospital for about 15 days. During these period, they will cultivate stem cells from it. When stem cells r ready from the fat, they will call us for treatment of my Juvenile/Type 1 Diabetic Son. She informed me over TELEPHONE that they will transplant the stem cell into lever of the patient. After that, the patient has to let admitted for about 1 month. On inquiry, she told me their charges, Rs. 1 Lac.

A: I personally think it is bunk!!!!! I don’t think that research has gone far enough to be able to do this. Do what you want. I will wait for the real researchers here to come up with something.

Q: Does Anyone know of a cure for Juvenile Onset Type 1 Diabetes?
I’m desperate for a sure cure!

A: no there is no cure but i 2 was a type one diabetic but my kidneys failed after 26 years and i had a kidney and pancreas transplant and i am longer a diabetic. it is a hard way to get cured but at least i am sttill alive.

Q: any permanent cure for juvenile diabetes for my 11yr.old daughter?

A: Give your Daughter these side effects and complications free homeopathic remedies for her diabetes NAT SULPH 200C once a week followed by these cell salts :- CALC PHOS 6X,NAT PHOS 6X,KALI PHOS 6x all three 2 tablets each thrice a day half hour before or after meals and report back with her progress after using these for a week while continuing the medication soon she will be 100% well by the Grace of God.
Take Care and God Bless you and your Family !

Q: is there a cure for type 1 juvenile diabetes?

A: The only cure to date is a pancreas transplant. Don’t get caught up in phony drugs or treatment that claim to cure diabetes. They are just money makers and can be very bad for your health
Dr Atkins diet can be very dangerous to diabetics because it can cause the ketones to rise. Most doctors and nutritionists will tell you to stay away from this diet. Studies on Chromium Picolate have shown that is does not help blood sugars to go down or help the diabetes. It only reduced the blood sugar readings by about 10 points in most cases. There were over 1,000 people that participated in the study.
Yes, type 2 can SOMETIMES be controlled by diet and exercise, but usually requires medication later in life. Not all type 2’s can control their disease this way, because type 2 is also caused by a disfuntion in the pancreas.
Yes, Ali is totally WRONG

Q: Will you join and help raise money to fight Juvenile Diabetes? http://www.pure2×2.com/DrKenneth417?
We are fund raising to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes>
http://www.pure2×2.com/DrKenneth417
We will use all the money we make to help the ADA find a cure for diabetes in the generation that is coming up,so they do not suffer like we are presently suffering (my daughter type 1 and I type 2) both have the disease.

A: You shouldn’t need any support if the 2×2 system is as good as you claim.

I can’t wait for the cure.

Q: I need some ideas for t-shirts for Walk To Cure Diabetes.?
I need some sayings and picture ideas on what to put on them. They are for my family’s team. We are walking for my little sister who had juvenile diabetes. Thanks for the help.

Thanks

A: Tiredness can be a symptom of diabetes but is very non specific.
Your age and being overweight does increase your risk
Often a person in your age group will present with infections -commonly thrush/monilia as a vaginitis.. you can also present with a heart attack or stroke as a complication of diabetes. 1% of the population are diabetics another 1% are undiagnosed

The easiest way to set your mind at rest is to see your doctor for a blood/urine test.

http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=86518017

first one to donate gets 10 points? haha…
so my question is…will you please help?

A: Fourteen hours ago and you notice why people haven’t been answering your question. Generally, people are good; deep down, but when you put money into the equation, no matter what the cause. Over the Internet donateering isn’t as useful a tool as one might think. Words of encouragement and probably the only real answer to your question, good luck and what a wonderful cause to walk for.
